Remembering 9/11: 25 Years Later

Today, we honor the first responders, citizens, and their families who have been impacted by the most tragic attack on U.S. soil to date. We'll never forget those nearly 3,000 Americans who lost their lives 25 years ago. This is an important day to reflect not only on those we have lost, but on the strength of community following this devastating event.
County Managers and Administrators Meet in Phoenix: September CMA Meeting
Friday, September 11th, the Association held the last County Manager's meeting before the 22nd CSA Policy Summit!
We are grateful for all who were able to attend, both virtually and in-person, and share their thoughts on the 31 county-led proposals being contemplated by the Association's Board of Directors in October. While this may have been the last County Manager's meeting pre-summit, there will be additional briefings on key issues involving some of the counties proposals, in hopes that attendees arrive with a greater understanding of the context for them. Next week, the Association's Board of Directors will also meet and receive an initial briefing on these proposals.
General Effective Date: Bills from the 2026 Legislative Session Go into Effect on September 12th
Saturday, September 12th, is the general effective date for bills chaptered in the 2026 legislative session. Under the Arizona Constitution, non-emergency acts passed during a regular legislative session take effect 90 days after sine die. This year, the session adjourned sine die on June 13th, 2026 (We can't believe it's been that long, either!). Any piece of legislation passed that didn't stipulate its own start date will be taking effect this Saturday, September 12th.
If you're interested in reviewing an exhaustive list of the bills that are impacting counties, we've got you covered! Find our 2026 CSA Legislative Summary here.
